Len Eskey, RIP

This is going to upset quite a few classmates, seeing as how popular Len was…
Len passed away yesterday, Saturday, March 26, at a hospice facility in or near Vero Beach, FL.
I took a call today from Mike Hyman who relayed this sad news to me—he, in turn, having been notified by Judy Gault […]

Francis (”Bud”) Bennett, RIP

It saddens me to post news of another classmate’s passing, Francis Leroy “Bud” Bennett, Jr. Thanks to Jacee McCluckie for forwarding this to our attention. Bud passed away in his sleep last September. Jacee has been trying to get in touch with his family. You’ll find his obituary here.

Ottinger Updates

Here’s several overdue (on my part) updates on our “individualist” classmate, John Ottinger. John now (and for many years) lives in Madison, WI, with wife of many years, Peggy. With a reputation as being one of the foremost Liberal enclaves in America (along w/ San Francisco and the People’s Republic of Cambridge, MA…:O), John once […]

Lyn Hackley, RIP

Another sad passing, I am sorry to report. Lyn died last September. The only news we have at this time comes from Judy Gault, longtime friend of Lyn’s, who informed me recently of Lyn’s death in an email:
Also to let you know I heard from Lyn Hackley’s daughter. Karen. who sent me a Christmas card […]

We found him!

Well, this is embarrassing! Recently I started looking online for news of Chip DiBlanda’s passing. I was told by someone—I think it was Noel Castiglia—that Chip was in a bad way, health-wise. I went to the Social Security death index website and thought I had confirmed his death in 2007 or 2008. I searched […]

Move Over, Al Gore!

If we define “the internet” in very basic terms as “computer-to-computer communication” or “intercomputer communication”, then our man, Larry, has every right to be known as the “father of the internet”. Good grief! What an accomplishment by our own classmate! Thanks to Noel (who headed up an engineering firm, himself) for bringing it to […]

Winter Reunions in Florida

Recently in touch with Gail Armitage Heath by email who writes about her annual winter Florida mini-reunion with four of our classmates. Three of them have known each other since the start of elementary school and the fourth since high school. Gail was kind enough to include a couple of photos. I’ve posted them on […]

Notes from Florida

Since the 50th, Deanna’s sent us a couple of updates from their (reasonably) new digs in Summerfield, FL. I’ve finally located and gotten around to posting them on Dee’s Classmate Update page. I have a few other posts to make—namely Walton, Hyman and Armitage—and a few from my own collection. I’m trying to get the […]

Marilyn Chambers, RIP

A Staples ‘70 graduate, Marilyn Chambers, former adult film star, was found dead in her Los Angeles home last Sunday by her daughter. She was just 56. Full story here at westport-news.com.

Holiday Dinners with Lawyers

For the last five years or so it has been our custom (Ronnie and I) to trek southward to Westport at Christmas from our (then) home in New Hampshire to visit family and friends. Three or four years ago I suggested to Chuck Banks and Bob Walton that we get together with spouses for a […]
